She cradled its furry orange cheeks. Its scabby wings fluttered. It emitted a high-pitched whine that eventually settled into a hairy purr. Its purple tongue scraped up at its nubby nose. It smiled a fangy smile.

She smiled back at its giant marble black eyes, rolling its globular body like a steering wheel. “I like you. You are like me.”
